Maputo Water Supply Project – Unaccounted-for Water Reduction and Network Reinforcement, Rehabilitation and Extension Component, Mozambique.

Overall Objective:
The overall objective of this component of the project is to reduce unaccounted-for water in the Maputo Water Supply System by about 25% and to improve the distribution system. The specific goal is a greater availability of water in the network through physical interventions in the water supply and distribution system leading to improved constancy of supply and enhancing the Operator’s ability to service the customer. An improved revenue stream will be achieved through replacement or installation of new consumer meters, reduction of illegal connections, improved service levels and reliability enhancing the basis for revenue collection and expanded customer base, as well as improved commercial control of customer billing (deemed to be implemented under the responsibility of the Operator under current lease contract). Further, the network will be expanded and reinforced, allowing the Operator to serve additional customers and areas.
